A Clinical Study of Anorectal Diseases

Abstract
We have a lot of patient related with anorectal diseases in Korea while we don¢¥t know the real statistical distributions of their anorectal disease.
So we studied and analyzed the patient which have concerned with anorectal diseases of 14 55 cases except malignant and congenital diseases, have treated in Department of General Su-rgery at National Medical Center for 15 years (1960-1974).
The results were as follows;
1. Of the 1455 cases of anorectal diseases, the hemorrhoid was most common disease as 61.2¢¥ of all, and remaining included -13.6% of anal fistula, 7.4% of perianal abscess, 7.2% of anal fissure and 5.4% of anal atresia.
2. The sex ratio was male preponderance as 2.1:1 except anal fissure and the most prevalent age group was 3rd and 4th decade as 64.3% of all.
3. The mean duration was 7. 1 years in rectal prolapse, 4.5 years in hemorrhoid, 3.2 years in anal fistula, 10 months in anal fissure and 7 days in perianal abscess.
4. The main clinical symptoms of anorectal diseases were bleeding, pain, discharge, itching and foreign body sensation, and constipation.
5. The most common type of hemorrhoid was bleeding hemorrhoid as 43.5% of all the multiple hemorrhoid was accounted for 66%0. The predilection site of the hemorrhoid was R.P. as 51% of all.
6. The most common histopathological findings of anal fistula was chronic non-specific in flammaion which was accounted for 94.2%. The tuberculous origin was accounted for 5%.
7. The most common cultured organism of perianal abscess was E. coli as 56% of all which was most sensitive to Kanamycin.
8. The main treatment was conservative treatment in hemorrhoid and anal fistula, however anal fistula, periana abscess and rectal prolapse were treated by surgery
